Former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to open for Good Friday

The iconic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) will open its doors to the public for Good Friday on 25 March 2016 (Friday), from 9am to 9pm.

2          Members of the public can take the opportunity to visit the historic site to take photos or sketch their impressions of the national monument. We welcome the public to deposit their drawings at the former ticketing counter of the station. The drawings may be displayed at future openings.

3          This will be the first time that  a 90’s themed Art Market with a showcase of hand-made craft in support of local young talents will be exhibited at TPRS. Over 100 art, retail and F&B booths will be set up by home-grown artists, designers, hobbyists and bakers along the rail platform. There will also be live musical performances by local acoustic bands and the projection of digital art installations in the station. A collaboration with The Local People, the Art Market will be open from 3pm to 9pm.

4           In addition, Food from the Heart (FFTH), a voluntary welfare organisation that collects unsold bread, non-perishable food and any excess resources for distribution to welfare homes, needy individuals and families island-wide, will be setting up a booth to recruit volunteers and collect non-perishable food items from the public. FFTH developed its geospatial app, Volunteer Broadcast System, with support from the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). The app helps volunteers to plan their routes and schedules.

5          Gazetted as a national monument since 2011, TPRS is open to the public on public holidays for people to enjoy the State property.  More information about the Open House can be found on SLA’s website.
