During the 22nd of October, Volocopter successfully completed their first manned flight over Singapore's Marina Bay as part of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress. The flight took an average of 2 minutes at an average cruising height of 40 m and covered approximately 1.5 km, with a Volocopter 2X model of the company's test series vehicle.

CEO of Volocopter Florain Reuter said that the flight in Singapore was "the most advanced Volocopter flight yet" and the "piloted flight was as stable as ever". The manned flight was meant as a "realistic demonstration of air taxi boarding and maintenance services." A prototype of a full-scale VoloPort had also been constructed as the air taxi veriport located on the Marina Bay floating platform. As a landing port for aircraft which land or take off vertically, the VoloPort is the only infrastructure needed for air taxis to operate, having been designed to integrate into existing urban infrastructure as seamlessly as possible.

Before the flight, the aircraft had undergone intensive testing in Germany for several months, and had been verified under local environment conditions and strict evaluations to meet the safety requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore(CAAS).

VoloPort intends for the Volocopter 2X air taxi service to complement Singapore’s already efficient transport system by tackling routes that traditionally face topographical challenges.
