Unveiling the 2nd iteration of the 10-year Singapore Geospatial Masterplan, Minister Edwin Tong outlined the 3 main strategies for geospatial development over the next decade - mainstreaming, deepening capabilities and going global.

Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremonies

The event also saw the signing of 2 Memorandum of Understanding with SingHealth Community Hospitals (SCH) and MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation (MOHT) on co-developing web-based map services to identify health and social service-related services for their respective initiatives in preventive healthcare.

OneMap GPT Challenge Winning Prototypes

Congratulations to winners of the inaugural OneMap GPT Challenge, Huawei and BuzzAR!

During the Opening Ceremony, Ms Megan Ann Pang, SLA’s Principal Geospatial Consultant presented on the winning prototype interfaces and how they utilise AI, location information and map visualisation to open limitless potential across industries. Watch the presentation here.

Touring of SLA Booth

SLA Chairman, Mr Yeoh Oon Jin then took a tour of the exhibition grounds, first stopping at the SLA booth where the winners of SLA’s OneMap GPT Challenge, Huawei and BuzzAR presented on their prototypes.
Container Depot and Logistics Association of Singapore (CDAS) was also at the booth to present the heavy vehicle routing prototype developed with SLA.

Panel Discussions

SLA also took to the stage at Geo Connect Asia on 6 March 2024, steering two insightful panel discussions that delved into the future of public health and urban development using geospatial innovation and solutions.

First up was the opening panel on the importance of location in improving life quality, moderated by Director of Geospatial & Data, Mr Ng Siau Yong. The panel explored a range of issues, including using maps to streamline the planning of public health services, alongside the complexities of predicting what users need based on where and how old they are.

The second panel moderated by Director of Survey & Geomatics, Dr Victor Khoo, delved into the optimisation and integration of Urban Digital Twins, which has emerged as a critical tool for future city development and management. The panellists dissected the benefits of using digital twins to better plan and manage our cities and discussed its potential integration with other smart city technologies. At the same time, they raised questions about their effectiveness in supporting sustainable city solutions and whether they are the solution to connect better with our communities.

About the ASEAN Geospatial Challenge:
Targeted at students from Institutes of Higher Learning, Geospatial Youth Edition brings youth in the ASEAN region together to use geospatial technology and information to support nations in achieving their Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Day 2 of Geo Connect Asia was wrapped up with the closing plenary led by co-hosts, SLA CE, Mr Colin Low and MPA ACE, Mr David Foo, along with distinguished speakers A/Prof Gan Wee Hoe from SingHealth Community Hospitals, Dr Jani Thuaibah Isa Tanzil from National University of Singapore, Mr Jack Lim from Community Chest and Dr Cheong Wei Yang from Singapore Management University.

The two days of Geo Connect Asia have been a remarkable journey, connecting with fellow industry peers and fostering meaningful connections.
