In a bid to aid the global community in combating the coronavirus pandemic, Singapore has made its contact-tracing application, TraceTogether, open-source.

Developed by the Government Technology Agency and the Ministry of Health, TraceTogether utilises Bluetooth technology to identify and track people who were within a 2 metre vicinity of coronavirus patients for at least 30 minutes. This aids officials in identifying high-risk individuals when those infected are unable to recall who they have been in contact with.

By making the software open-source, international developers are able to freely distribute and modify the code to suit their country’s needs.
