As Singapore tightens its safety measures on 7 April 2020 due to Covid-19 with the circuit breaker measure extended till 1st June 2020, everyone is advised to stay at home to curb the spread of Covid-19.

More than 350 parks and gardens remain open during this time for the public to exercise alone, however, safe distancing measures still need to be practised.

The National Parks Board (NParks) has developed a real-time portal called “Safe Distance @ Parks” to allow the public to check for a park near them and visitorship levels of major parks, gardens and natural areas. This will help the public to choose a less crowded green space near their homes where they can exercise safely, minimising travelling.

Different coloured symbols – an orange square, yellow diamond and green circle – are used to represent the level of visitorship in a specific park. For example, if an area is experiencing high visitorship, which is indicated by an orange square, the public is advised to refrain from visiting it.

It is best to visit the parks in your neighbourhood with low visitorship levels, which is indicated by a green circle on the map.

Also, always remember to maintain at least a metre apart from others. Remember to wear a mask at all times, except when doing strenuous exercises, and return home immediately after. Members of the public can access the portal here.

The NParks’ app utilises SLA’s OneMap (www.onemap.sg) as its basemap. OneMap is the most detailed and updated map of Singapore with over 40 government agencies contributing useful day-to-day information and services.
