Singapore’s first drone delivery service takes flight
May 4, 2020
On 19 April, Singapore's first drone delivery service commenced with a flight delivering 2 kilograms of vitamins to a ship anchored offshore. This flight is the first of many under a one-year deal between Eastern Pacific Shipping and local start-up F-drones, the first company to receive authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) for such deliveries.
Drones can lift up to 5 kilograms of supplies over a 5 kilometre distance. With trips lasting 15 minutes on average, the company hopes that it can provide a more environmentally sustainable way to deliver supplies.
