The Sales Jet Asia Access Platform (www.salesjet.asia) is a multi-party partnership between Sistema Asia, Enterprise Singapore, MTS - Russia’s largest Telecommunications and IT company and Skolkovo - Russia’s Institute of Science and Technology. The business development platform supports Russian and Asian advanced technology companies with their Asia market expansion.

What is something about your company that the general public might not know about?
Sistema Asia is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sistema Group (http://www.sistema.com/home/) which is the largest private investment corporation in Russia with assets well over USD 20B. Sistema is now one of the main contributors to Russia’s GDP, representing 15 high-potential sectors through its portfolio of companies that serve more than 150 million consumers.

How has your experience with GeoWorks been?
GeoWorks is an important partner for us as the team provides crucial expertise and network in geospatial technologies across various sectors of Singapore’s economy. This collaboration helps us in the evaluation process of technology companies for participation in the Sales Jet platform and our investment activities. We love the professionalism of the GeoWorks team.

How does geospatial technology help you in your work?
Sales Jet portfolio companies are leveraging geospatial data and insights for various use cases in Smart Cities space, including business mapping and geospatial infrastructure, route optimisation, drone mapping, smart logistics, data-driven transportation planning and more.

In your opinion, what skills are needed to work in the geospatial industry?
Geospatial data represents a significant portion of big data and the size of such data is growing rapidly at least by 20% every year. With such enormous amount of data, it’s important to be able to analyse it in the most rapid and efficient way to provide insights and intelligence for business and government. After the Covid-19 pandemic the world will be using more and more accurate up-to-date information in order to respond to disasters and other emergency events. Acting fast will be essential for the application of geospatial data and technologies.

Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Our advice is very common: not to be afraid to take risks and fail. Without failure there won’t be any innovation. What’s good, is that nowadays entrepreneurs have access to supporting infrastructure and organisations, like startup incubators, accelerators and venture capital. Geoworks and Sistema Asia are examples of such organisations and ecosystem players. Working with ecosystem builders can help entrepreneurs to de-risk and get help.
