Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative, which seeks to transform economy and lifestyles with technology, has spurred a growing demand for skilled GIS professionals possessing geospatial skills and thinking. To support national initiatives and strategic priorities such as including climate change resilience, maritime GIS and underground space planning, the new Boustead-Esri Geospatial Scholarship has been launched to remove any financial barriers that might prevent students from pursuing a geospatial career.

Supported by the Boustead Geospatial Technology Group, this scholarship is awarded annually with two positions for applicants who have successfully enrolled in National University of Singapore's (NUS’) MSc in Applied GIS programme. The scholarship will support the professional development of skills and expertise such as smart city entrepreneurialism, forward-thinking problem-solving and the ability to leverage geography to address real-world challenges in our communities. This will enable budding geospatial talents to continually strive in developing Singapore’s GIS landscape.

Applications for the Boustead-Esri Geospatial Scholarship are open to Singaporean citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents pursuing a postgraduate degree in in geospatial technologies – especially geographic information systems (GIS) and their applications.
