Press Release

Labour Day Open House at the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

Looking for a nice and rustic place to spend your Labour Day? Visit the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) on 1 May 2015, from 9am to 6pm.

2          Since February this year, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has been opening the former TPRS to the public on public holidays so that more people can visit the historical monument. Since we opened the former TPRS on Public Holidays[1], about 9,000 had visited the former railway station to take photos and reminisce the past.

3.         We note that some people have also taken to sketching the historical building and its surroundings from all angles. We would be happy to display these pieces of art at the next opening. Members of the public can drop off their drawings at the former ticketing counter of TPRS.

4.         To facilitate the public visiting the station, we have also provided a map showing the two entrances they can enter from, as well as alternative carparks around the vicinity. Please refer to Annex A. More information about the Open House can also be found on SLA’s website.

About SLA

Singapore Land Authority (SLA) is a statutory board with the Ministry of Law. Its mission is to optimise land resources for the social and economic development of Singapore. SLA manages some 13,500 hectares of State land and about 5,000 State buildings, which have largely been tenanted out for a variety of uses. It also manages land sales, leases, acquisitions and allocation, developing and marketing land-related information, and maintaining the national land information database through digitised land information services. Being the national land registration authority for property transactions, SLA issues and guarantees land titles in Singapore. It also manages and maintains the national land survey system, where boundaries or legal limits of properties are defined, based on a coordinated cadastre survey system. The use of geospatial information is also spearheaded by SLA through a national collaborative environment where geospatial data, policies and technologies are established and defined, thereby fostering innovation, knowledge and value creation for the Government, enterprises and community.
