Singapore is a small country and lands need to be recycled in order to meet Singapore’s economic and social needs. In addition, environmental issues need to be addressed as it affects human health. SLA plays a crucial role in addressing environmental issues in our land recycling process in order to safeguard State’s interest in terms of protecting human health and reduce hindrance to future developments while ensuring economic sustainability. SLA has formulated an environmental policy framework that provide guidance on management of environmental issues in the land recycling process with the objective of safeguarding the State’s interests.  

SLA administers the Land Reinstatement and Remediation Framework in order to 

  • Provide guidance and consistency on management of environmental issues in the land recycling process  

  • Promote and instil responsible use of land and promote greater sustainability of land use
