About Spatial Challenge

The SLA Spatial Challenge is an initiative of the Singapore Land Authority aimed at encouraging the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology in Schools.  Supported by the Ministry of Education and Esri Singapore, the Challenge is organised for Pre-University and Tertiary students to increase the awareness of GIS in students, and encourage innovative use of GIS in Singapore.

Competition Categories

Pre-University GIS Analysis Category

This category is open to all Pre-University students. Teams are required use spatial data, together with a GIS software, to analyse issues and find solutions to problems from a spatial perspective.

Tertiary GIS Analysis Category

This category is open to all students from Tertiary Institutions. Similar to the Pre-University GIS Analysis Category, teams would be using spatial data and concepts to examine issues from a geographical perspective.

Tertiary GIS Application Category

This category is open to all students from Tertiary Institutions with some knowledge in programming. Teams are expected to develop a GeoSpatial application using computer programming.
