2 September 2011 - The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) announced today that the former Bukit Timah Railway Station (BTRS) and railway land extending 1.4km southwards from the steel bridge along Bukit Timah Road (near BTRS) will be open to the public with effect from 16 Sep.

2. Members of the public will be able to enjoy walks along this stretch of the rail corridor. Other portions of the former railway land will also be progressively opened up to the public as the removal works are completed.

3. The longer term plans for BTRS will be part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) comprehensive review of development plans for the former railway land and their surrounding areas. As part of its review, the URA will study the possibility of marrying development and greenery, such as applying innovative strategies to maintain a continuous green link along the rail corridor without affecting the development potential of the lands.
