            The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has launched the former Siglap Primary School at 10 La Salle Street for public tender. The property was last used by the Association for Persons with Special Needs (Katong Special School).

2          The range of approved uses for the site includes commercial school/ privately funded school/foreign systems school, arts/dance/drama studio, and childcare/student care/kindergarten. The guide rent for the property is $42,900.

3          The property has an estimated gross floor area (GFA) of 2,258 sqm and is being offered on a 3-year tenancy with an option to renew for 2 further terms of 3 years and 2 years respectively, subject to terms. The property consists of both a 3-storey and single-storey building. It has a basketball court, an open field and is close to amenities such as the Siglap Shopping Centre, East Coast Food Centre, and the Kembangan MRT Station.

4          Mr Teo Cher Hian (张子贤, 土地营运(私人)司长), SLA’s Director of Land Operations (Private) Division said: “Based on the favourable response to our recent tenders for sites with commercial school as one of its approved uses, we have reasons to believe that this site will be similarly well received despite the current weak economic conditions”  He added that SLA has seen a healthy take-up of SLA-managed properties by the education sector, in line with the Government’s efforts to position Singapore as an education hub.  State properties, in this regard, can contribute to catering to the just-in-time demand from a diverse mix of education services in Singapore.” To-date, SLA has already received 10 enquiries from interested parties.

5        The site showround for 10 La Salle Street will be on 10 February 2009. The tender will remain open for 3 weeks from 3 February 2009 and will close on 24 February 2009 at 11 am sharp.
