  • The East Coast Resort, which re-opened to the public on 19 January after SLA took over the management of the site, has been put up for public tender on 30 June.
  • The site will be tendered for use as holiday chalets and food and beverages outlets. Besides holiday chalets, other proposed uses for the site would include sports and recreational centre; corporate retreat; campsite; adventure camps; martial arts/judo/fencing school, and beauty, health and fitness centre. The tenancy period would be for 3 years with an option to renew for one term of 3 years followed by a two-year term (i.e., 3+3+2 years).
  • The tender will close on 28 July and the site will be awarded to the successful bidder latest by December. The East Coast Resort will consequently cease operation early next year.
  • Our managing agent, United PREMAS Limited, has carried out painting works to the railings and external walls to improve the resort's surroundings Other improvement works such as cleaning up of the swimming pool, and refining and sprucing up the greenery in the resort have also been done. Several reparation works were also carried out at the common areas and within the chalets.
  • There are currently six businesses operating in the resort. These include a bicycle kiosk, convenience store, equipment rental store, swimming school, café, BBQ accessories shop, and prawn fishing services. These businesses will be allowed to stay on until the resort closes. Upon award of the tender, the new operator may choose to liaise and negotiate with the existing businesses to provide business continuity.
  • The East Coast Resort is located within the East Coast Park which is a popular park in Singapore . This park offers a wide range of facilities such as food, recreation, entertainment and sports for the enjoyment of all. Bowling alleys, golf driving range, restaurants and a hawker centre are in close proximity to the resort.
  • The resort, being one of the key attractions in East Coast Park , provides a conducive accommodation for the public who can enjoy various recreational activities within East Coast Park , like cycling, roller-blading, kayaking and the newly introduced water-skiing.

    Background info on site

  • The site was formerly known as Costa Sands Resort (East Coast). It re-opened its doors to the public on 19 January 2006 under a new name - East Coast Resort. The East Coast Resort is now managed by SLA, after the former Costa Sands Resort (East Coast) owned by Resort Concept Pte Ltd was returned to the State when its 30-year lease expired on 11 January 2006.
  • SLA has appointed United PREMAS Limited as its managing agent to oversee the daily management and operation of the resort which consists of 197 chalets. Seventy-three of them are duplex units and 124 are premier units.
