Darts Buddy Pte Ltd to be charged for allowing consumption of liquor after 10.30pm

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has filed a charge against Darts Buddy Pte Ltd (“the Company”), which operates a food and drinks establishment at 28 Beatty Road, for allowing the consumption of liquor on its premises after 10.30pm. The Company will be charged in court on 13 August 2021 at 2.30pm in Court 4B, for acting in contravention of Regulation 13(1)(c) of the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, which is an offence punishable under section 34(7)(a) of the COVID -19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.

2.       The Company had allegedly attempted to avoid detection from law enforcement officers by closing and shuttering its main entrance on 29 January 2021. Safe-distancing enforcement officers had, however, observed patrons entering and exiting the premises through a rear door shortly prior to an inspection at about 10.40 pm.

3.       The Government takes a serious view of such violations. Under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020, first-time offenders who are convicted will face a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both. Subsequent offenders may face a fine of up to $20,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months or both.
