12 Individuals to be Charged for Breaching Safe Distancing Measures at Lazarus Island

        The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has filed charges against 12 individuals for breaching safe distancing measures at Lazarus Island. The group had allegedly visited Lazarus Island on 8 August 2020 and violated that prohibition on social gatherings with more than four other persons not staying in the same place of residence. They will be charged in court on Friday, 2 October 2020 at 2.30pm, Court 4B for contravening the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020. 

2.    The Government takes a serious view against violation of safe distancing measures. Under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020, first-time offenders will face a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both. Subsequent offenders may face a fine of up to $20,000 imprisonment of up to 12 months or both.
