Island hopping

Need a quiet respite away from the city? Organising a retreat for some undivided focus? Head south to some idyllic island gems managed by SLA - St John’s, Lazarus and Kusu islands.  

Follow our recommended route or explore each of these treasures on its own. Whichever the case, do note the following guidelines: 

  • The convenience store on Lazarus Island is open from Friday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm. Daily essentials and ready-to-eat meals are available at this store.

  • Please bring along sufficient drinking water and food to last the whole day as there are no retail and F&B shops on the other islands. 

  • Occasional encounters with wildlife in natural environments are unavoidable. 

  • There are no medical services available on the islands. 

  • Overnight camping is only permitted at designated areas, click here to apply for camping permits. Applications must be submitted at least 14 days before the start date of actual usage. Any public events require a Public Entertainment License.

  • No open fires are allowed. BBQ pits at St John’s and Kusu islands are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • No feeding of wildlife e.g. monkeys.

  • Please do not litter. Remember to bag your rubbish and dispose of it properly at trash bins on the island, or bring it back to the mainland.

Transportation

Regular ferry services serve St John’s and Kusu Islands on fixed schedules from Marina South Pier. The is no scheduled ferry services to Lazarus Island / beach, you will have to walk there from St John’s Island. 

Private hire boat services are also available for charter from Marina South Pier if you prefer a more flexible schedule.

Safety advisory

Beach on one of the Southern Islands

Recently, there have been sightings of box jellyfish in Singapore's waters. For the safety of our island hoppers, SLA has put up advisories on the Southern Islands, which includes information on recognising symptoms of jellyfish stings as well as the administering of basic first aid. SLA would like to remind visitors to stay vigilant even as they enjoy the beauty of the islands.
