Reopening of Camping Sites and Barbecue Pits

In line with the latest announcement by the Multi-Ministry Taskforce on the streamlining of Safe Management Measures (SMMs), the National Parks Board (NParks) is reopening camping sites and barbecue pits from 18 March 2022. Barbecue pits in the Housing & Development Board’s (HDB) housing estates and private condominiums can also be reopened from 18 March 2022. The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) will also reopen its barbeque pits on 18 March and camping sites on 29 March 2022.

Application for camping permits and booking of barbecue pits in the gardens and parks managed by NParks can be made via the AXS system (axs.com.sg) with effect from 15 March 2022,10AM.

For camping, tents must be at least 5 m apart from each other to allow for safe distancing. The number of campers should also be kept at 5 persons per camping permit, which is the permitted group size. Similarly, for barbecue pit bookings, the permitted group size is 5 persons per pit. The barbecue pit permit is valid from 12PM to 10.30PM of the particular date.

The public can refer to the NParks website for the latest advisories for gardens, parks and nature reserves in response to the COVID-19 situation.

Camping sites and barbecue pits managed by SLA

The camping sites managed by SLA are located on Lazarus Island and Pulau Hantu Besar.  The holiday lodge, ‘Eagle Lodge’, is located on St John’s Island. Application for the camping sites and Eagle Lodge can be made at https://app.sla.gov.sg/TOL from 15 March 2022, 10AM, for stays from 29 March 2022 onwards. The barbecue pits are located on Kusu Island, St John’s Island and Pulau Hantu Besar.  All the barbecue pits are free for public use on a first come, first served basis.

Residents who wish to book barbecue pits in their housing estates and private condominiums can approach their respective town councils and condominium management for more information.

Safe Management Measures

Members of the public will need to adhere to safe management measures including checking in with the SafeEntry QR code on the TraceTogether app, or bringing their TraceTogether token.

They should also observe other safe management measures such as wearing a mask except when engaging in strenuous exercises or consuming food, drink or medication, as well as observing a safe distance of at least one metre from other visitors when unmasked. There should be no intermingling between groups as well.
