Originally built in the 1920s by renowned architecture firm Swan & Maclaren, 5 Kadayanallur Street was once home to the St Andrew’s Mission Hospital for Women and Children.
As one of Singapore’s earliest modernist buildings, the property features a clean facade and a distinctive triangular air-well, designed to maximise natural light and ventilation. It also houses one of the oldest operating lift in Singapore, installed in 1929.
Today, the building has been rejuvenated as KADA, a curated lifestyle and wellness destination. Just steps from Maxwell MRT and the ever-popular Maxwell Food Centre, KADA blends heritage with modern sensibilities, offering a new lease of life to a treasured part of Singapore’s urban fabric.
